Local Government & Community

Horizon Coast works closely with the land, and therefore we work closely with the people who protect it — local councils, town offices, community associations, forestry groups, and neighborhood leaders.

Our purpose is simple: support responsible land care and reduce the burden on overstretched local communities.

How We Support Local Government

We cooperate quietly and professionally in areas such as:

  • vacant house (akiya) consultations with distant owners,
  • pre-demolition discussions to ensure safe procedures,
  • respectful land reset that considers drainage, runoff, and neighbors,
  • waste sorting and legal disposal coordination,
  • protecting trees, stone walls, and cultural features when requested,
  • tourism-positive small stays and local economy support.

Our goal is to reduce abandoned-property risks and help the region manage land with dignity.

Respect for Community Culture

Many coastal towns carry stories that stretch back centuries — pilgrim routes, fishing families, clan histories, old craft traditions. Horizon Coast approaches each property not as an “asset,” but as a chapter in the wider story of the community.

Whenever possible, we:

  • consult neighborhood elders before major changes,
  • preserve local character in property redevelopment,
  • avoid disruption of daily rhythms, paths, and views,
  • choose solutions that strengthen rather than disturb the area.

Environmental Consideration

Coastlines and mountainsides are sensitive environments. We work with care toward:

  • erosion and runoff prevention,
  • protection of waterways and rice fields,
  • responsible tree trimming rather than unnecessary removal,
  • safe handling of asbestos or hazardous materials,
  • long-term land stability for future use.

Our goal is not speed. Our goal is long-term harmony between land, people, and sea.

Invitation to Collaborate

We welcome contact from:

  • town offices / 市役所・町役場
  • local community groups / 自治会
  • real estate departments
  • forestry and river agencies
  • regional revitalization divisions

If you wish, we can prepare:

  • simple briefing papers,
  • case studies of past land care projects,
  • guides for absentee owners,
  • multilingual support for non-Japanese owners.

We work quietly in the background — strengthening the region one property at a time.
