Stay Packages & Rates

Sample lodge packages for JAG Farms Lodge – all stays are small-group, hosted, and built around real farm and coastal life. Final pricing and details will be confirmed directly with John & Ave once the lodge is fully operational.

Important: The plans below are concept packages. Rates and inclusions are indicative only and may change to match seasons, boat/barge access, and farm workload.

1. Bed & Breakfast – Short Stay

For guests who want a simple, comfortable base on the Island – clean rooms, honest kai, and space to breathe.

Inclusions

  • 1–3 nights in lodge accommodation (twin / double / family options).
  • Farm-style breakfast each morning (eggs, breads, fruit, cereals, preserves).
  • Tea, coffee and drinking water available in the lodge.
  • Access to lodge lounge, decks, and outdoor areas.
  • Basic orientation on arrival – safety, tides, weather, and Island etiquette.

Who it suits

  • Visitors passing through Tauranga Moana who want a night or two on the Island.
  • Couples or small families looking for quiet time close to the sea.
  • Guests attending events or tangihanga on Matakana & Rangiwaea.

Sample rate: To be confirmed closer to opening – expect pricing in line with a small family lodge rather than a city hotel. Group and whānau rates will be available on request.

2. Farm & Table – Hosted Lodge Stay

Our signature stay. A rhythm of mornings on the whenua, afternoons free to explore, and evenings gathered around the table with kai from the farm, garden, and sea.

Inclusions (3–5 night stay)

  • Lodge accommodation (shared or exclusive use, depending on group size).
  • Daily farm-style breakfast and hearty lodge dinners.
  • One lighter lunch per full day (soup, breads, or platter-style).
  • Guided farm walk or garden session with John or Ave (weather & workload dependent).
  • One hosted evening of stories and music – Matakana, Tauranga Moana & Japan connections.
  • Use of basic fishing gear from the lodge (conditions apply).

Options to add

  • Guided harbour fishing session (shore or small-boat, weather and safety dependent).
  • Cooking session in the lodge kitchen – smoking, baking, or sashimi prep.
  • Visit to neighbouring farms or orchards where relationships allow.
  • Photography or media support for farming and industry delegations.

Sample rate structure: per-person, per-night pricing with a minimum group size, or a simple “whole lodge per night” rate for private groups. Final structure will be set jointly with JAG Farms Ltd.

3. Course & Retreat Weeks

Designed for groups who come with a clear purpose: professional development, study tours, community programmes, or creative retreats. Content may be led by JAG Farms, visiting facilitators, or a mix of both.

Possible themes

  • Dairy farming systems on Māori trust land.
  • Soil, pasture, and animal welfare fundamentals.
  • Farm safety culture & practical risk management.
  • Garden-to-table programmes for schools or community groups.
  • Fishing, food security, and coastal sustainability in Tauranga Moana.

Typical inclusions

  • 5–7 nights lodge accommodation.
  • Full catering (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and tea breaks).
  • Daily workshop or practical block on farm or in lodge.
  • Printed or digital material prepared in advance for participants.
  • End-of-week reflection session and group feedback.

Pricing model: usually quoted as a per-person, per-programme fee, based on group size, content level, and facilitator time. All course weeks will be planned case-by-case.

4. Add-Ons & Extras

The Island is not a theme park – weather, tides and farm commitments always come first. When conditions allow, we may be able to arrange:

  • Harbour or coastal fishing trips with experienced skippers.
  • Guided beach walks, shellfish gathering (where permitted), or pā site visits.
  • Photography, drone or media sessions for farm businesses.
  • Transport support between Tauranga, Omokoroa, and the Island barge.

All extras are subject to availability, safety, and the support of local whānau and operators. Nothing will be offered that compromises the land, the people, or the work.

5. How Booking Works

  1. Send an enquiry. Use the JAG Farms Lodge contact form or email to tell us who is coming, when, and what kind of stay you have in mind.
  2. We check dates & farm rhythm. John & Ave will look at milking, seasonal work, and barge schedules before confirming options.
  3. We shape a plan together. Once dates are pencilled in, we’ll agree the right package (short stay, farm & table, or course week) and any add-ons.
  4. Final quote & deposit. A formal quote will be sent, with deposit terms and payment options in NZD.
