How to reach JAG Farms Lodge — simple, scenic, and part of the experience.
Getting Here: Matakana Island is not the sort of place you arrive at by accident.
Getting here is part of the story — harbour, coastline, weather, and rhythm all working together.
Once your booking is confirmed, we will help you choose the most suitable arrival option and
coordinate the details with you directly.
1. Drive + Local Barge Crossing
This is the simplest option for guests travelling with a rental vehicle or local transport.
Step 1: Drive to Omokoroa Wharf, near Tauranga.
Step 2: Board the local island vehicle barge for a short harbour crossing to Matakana Island.
The barge operates as a flexible local service rather than a fixed public timetable.
Crossings are arranged according to demand, weather, tides, and daily island activity.
Once your travel dates are confirmed, the lodge team will coordinate directly with the skipper
and confirm your crossing details in advance.
2. Lodge Pickup Service
For guests who prefer a more relaxed and fully hosted arrival, pickup assistance can be arranged.

private transfer options can be arranged.

Important Notes
Matakana Island is a remote rural and coastal environment.
All arrivals require prior coordination with the lodge.
Weather, tide, and harbour conditions may influence travel timing.
Guests will be kept fully informed of any changes.
Please advise us in advance of any mobility or accessibility requirements.
