Sawatari — Property Care & Maintenance

This page describes general care and maintenance considerations for Sawatari. It is not a task list, schedule, or obligation. Care happens gradually, as needed, and at a pace that feels right for the family.

Rural properties naturally change with seasons, weather, and time. Signs of age or overgrowth are normal and do not imply neglect.

1. Grounds & Vegetation

Vegetation management is primarily about visibility and access, not appearance.

  • Occasional weeding around entrances and paths
  • Trimming near buildings to allow airflow
  • Seasonal growth awareness (spring–summer)

2. Building Condition Checks

Simple visual checks are sufficient in most cases. No technical inspection is assumed.

  • Roof and eaves after storms
  • Exterior walls and foundations for visible change
  • Doors and windows opening and closing normally

3. Painting & Surface Care (Future)

Repainting or surface treatment is a long-term consideration only. Weathering is expected and not a problem in itself.

  • Exterior wood aging naturally over time
  • Touch-ups considered only if protection is needed
  • No aesthetic standard implied

4. Shiroari (Termite) Awareness

Termite awareness is about observation, not alarm. Many older houses coexist with insects for long periods without issue.

  • Checking for mud tubes or unusual wood softness
  • Monitoring moisture-prone areas
  • Professional consultation only if signs appear

5. Hornets, Wasps & Wildlife

Seasonal insects and wildlife are part of rural life. Intervention is needed only when access or safety is affected.

  • Hornet or wasp nests near entrances
  • Observation before removal
  • Professional removal if required

6. Seasonal & Weather Checks

Weather-related checks help avoid surprises, not to enforce upkeep.

  • Typhoon or heavy rain aftermath
  • Fallen branches or blocked drainage
  • Snow or freeze effects (if applicable)

Care is quiet. Time is patient. Nothing here is urgent.
