Start A Legacy Conversation
Every collection begins with one story.
LEGACY™ helps individuals, families and whānau preserve stories, voices, photographs, memories and life lessons for future generations.
Whether you are beginning with one photograph, one recording, one family story or a larger archive, the first step is simply starting the conversation.
What Can We Discuss?
You may wish to preserve a personal story, record a family member, organise old photographs, create a whānau archive, capture life lessons or build a collection for future generations.
No project needs to be fully planned before making contact. Many LEGACY™ collections begin with a simple question:
What should we preserve before it is lost?
Personal Legacy
Preserve your own stories, voice, memories, photographs and messages for future generations.
Family Legacy
Build a shared collection of family stories, photographs, recordings and memories.
Community Legacy
Preserve the voices, stories and experiences of people who helped shape a community.
Possible Starting Points
- One recorded kōrero
- One family interview
- One photo collection
- One life story
- One message for future generations
- One family archive project
- One collection of memories from a parent, grandparent or kaumātua
A Gentle Process
LEGACY™ is not designed to rush people or force difficult conversations.
The process can begin slowly, naturally and respectfully. Some people begin with photographs. Others begin with a short voice recording. Others simply begin by talking.
