This page is used to share upcoming Sawatari stay plans in a clear and respectful format. The purpose is to help family members coordinate visits, avoid overlap, and maintain visibility regarding who plans to stay at the property and when.

This schedule is intended as a practical coordination tool only. All stays should be discussed and adjusted in advance through the appropriate family communication channel. Posting a stay here does not override family consultation or approval.

Schedule Purpose: To support transparency, smooth communication, and respectful shared use of Sawatari by family members and approved guests.

  • Confirm longer stays or special-use visits in advance.

  • Keep notes brief, practical, and respectful.
  • Update the schedule if plans change or are cancelled.

Future Expansion

This schedule page may later be expanded to include seasonal use notes, maintenance windows, guest visit coordination, and internal property care planning.

Keian (渓庵) Cleanup & Stewardship Plan

Initial cleanup, light restoration, and low-impact use plan for 渓庵 (Keian), with the aim of restoring usability while preserving character and supporting long-term stewardship of Sawatari.

3-Day Cleanup & Reset Plan

Day 1 – Full Clear-Out

  • Remove unwanted items inside and outside
  • Sort: plastics, metal, wood, glass, burnable
  • Break down large items
  • Stage for transport to recycle center

Day 2 – Exterior & Garden Reset

  • Dismantle front garden wooden structures
  • Separate reusable timber
  • Clear pump shed
  • Define terraces and pathways
  • Define vegetable garden reset and planting plan

Day 3 – Repairs & Internal Reset

  • Repair kitchen floor damage
  • Check wash area flooring
  • Inspect and clean engawa
  • Assess repair requirements, materials needed
  • Use materials and components from Sawatari workshop stock

Fumigation Plan

  • Smoke fumigation: rooms, underfloor, roof space
  • Follow with spray treatment at entry points
  • Ventilate fully before use

Final Clean Plan

  • Comprehensive Interior Clean
  • All rooms and all surfaces
  • Ventilate fully before use

Sample Occupation Plan 1

  • David & Eiko – 1–2 visits per month
  • Short stays: 1–2 nights
  • Nature, rest, and access base

Sample Occupation Plan 2

  • David full occupation
  • Weekly stays: 5 nights
  • Semi residency in support of local work contract

Stewardship Role

  • Maintain cleanliness and condition
  • Report issues promptly
  • Support ongoing upkeep

Cultural Continuity

If appropriate, artworks by Shuhei Fukuoka and Shinji Kusuhara may be incorporated into the interior to continue the creative history of the space.
