COLLABORATION
Creating Together
Some of the best songs begin with a simple conversation.
Every collaboration is different.
Sometimes a composer already has the melody.
Sometimes the story comes first.
Sometimes there is nothing more than an idea waiting for someone to ask,
“What if…?”
Listening Comes First
Before writing a single lyric, I like to understand the project.
What story are we trying to tell?
Who is the audience?
Who is singing?
What emotion should remain after the final note?
The better those questions are understood, the more naturally the lyrics begin to emerge.
Existing Melody
Working with a completed musical idea, allowing the lyric to find its place within the rhythm, phrasing and emotional direction already established by the composer.
Story First
Beginning with an idea, historical event, personal memory or fictional narrative, allowing both music and lyrics to develop together.
Creative Partnership
A collaborative process where ideas move freely between composer and lyricist until both the music and the words feel complete.
Respecting The Music
A lyric should never fight the melody.
Nor should the melody overpower the story.
The strongest songs are those where words and music support one another so naturally that the listener forgets they were ever separate.
Built On Trust
Successful collaborations rely on openness, honest conversation and mutual respect.
Sometimes a single word changes.
Sometimes an entire verse disappears.
The goal is never to protect the lyric.
The goal is always to serve the song.
Distance Is No Barrier
Modern collaboration allows ideas to travel anywhere in the world. My own experiences have shown that meaningful creative partnerships can flourish across countries, cultures and time zones.
Every Project Is Different
There is no fixed formula. Every collaboration develops its own rhythm, shaped by the people involved and the story they wish to tell.
Every Great Collaboration Begins With A Conversation
Whether you already have a melody, a concept, or simply an idea waiting to be explored, every project starts by talking, listening and sharing possibilities.
